Backpacking budget tips

Backpacking budget tips

Backpacking is all about adventure and independence as well as it is one of the cheapest way to travel around the world. In this blog we have the best basic backpack tips for you.

First tip: pack light! You will need a good backpack, it is impossible to backpacking with a suitcase. One of our favorite travel suppliers is Magellan'sIf you are packing your backpack, put the light items at the bottom and the heavier ones at the top. Your bag will feel lighter as they rest on your lower back. It also useful to put the items that you use most on top. Further, pack multi-function items, like pants that turn into shorts and little shampoo/conditioner combo bottles.

Second tip: use your feet! If you walk you'll get a close and personal view of your location. National parks, medieval cities and scenic coastlines are best experienced on foot. Walking is also for free and it will be great for your body and health at the same time. Before you start your trip, you need good shoes and some practice.

Third tip: sleep a hostel overnight! It is a lot cheaper than a hotel and you will possibly meet other backpackers. There are also hostels with private rooms if you would like some more privacy. Check out Hostels.com, HostelBookers.com or Travelmap

Fourth tip: go to the grocery store! Especially in European destinations, where many decent restaurants are expensive, the authentic local food can be purchased at affordable prices and getting your food from a local grocer is therefore a great budget idea and good for tasting delicious cultural food.

Fifth and final tip for today: be flexible! Make a plan but change it during your trip. By letting the spontaneous events happen and by being flexible, you could actually have the time of your life for an affordable price. For example by looking a trip with no flight return date, so you can explore your destination and taking your time to see everything!

In our next blog, which will appear within a few days, you can read about some special backpack experiences! Leave your comments below with tips about what you would like to know and read in our next blog!
