The best free European attractions

Do you want to travel to Europe, for example by train like we described in our latest blog? Many European cities have a bad reputation of being too expensive to visit. When you plan to see as much as you can, the entrance costs can really add up. Therefore, we have some good tips for you for the best free attractions in Europe!

Top 10:
1.   St. Peter’s Basillica, Vatican City
St. Peter’s Basillica is one of the greatest Roman Catholic churches in the entire world. Vatican is a small city in the city of Rome.

      2.   The Pantheon, Rome
The Pantheon is the best-preserved Roman building in Rome and was built as a temple to all gods in Ancient Rome. One of the most interesting features of the building is the central opening called the Great Eye (see picture on the right side).

3.   British Museum, London
The British Museum is one of the most important museums in the entire world. The museum opened in 1759 and has always been free to visit.

4.   Notre Dame Cathedral, Paris
The beautiful Gothic Cathedral is located on the eastern half of the Île de la Cité. Also free in Paris are the Louvre Gardens  and Sacre Coeur.

5.   Schonbrunn Gardens, Vienna
Schönbrunn Palace is one of the most important cultural monuments in Austria. Only the Gardens can be visited for free and they are worth some hours of your time. Also free in Vienna are the St. Stephan’s Cathedral, Hofburg Gardens and walk on the Ring Street.

6.   Charles Bridge, Prague
The Charles Bridge is one of the most beautiful places and best-known attractions in Prague. And best of all, it’s free. Also free in Prague are the PragueAstronomical Clock

7.   Vigeland Sculpture Park, Oslo
Part of Oslo’s Frogner Park, Vigeland Park features 212 bronze and granite sculptures created by Gustav Vigeland. Also free in Oslo is the Opera House.


8.   Park Güell, Barcelona
It is a park with works of Antoni Gaudí. Also free in Barcelona, La Rambla and La Boqueria Market.

9.   Reichstag, Berlijn
The roof and dome of the Reichstag building in Berlin are free to visit, where you can enjoy stunning views. Also free in Berlin is the Berlin Wall.




10. Red Square, Moscow
The most famous square in Moscow and possibly the most famous in all of Europe is the Red Square. Also free in Moscow is the Alexander Gardens.
